Responsibilities

• Represent clients in sophisticated insurance coverage disputes involving commercial and personal policies.
• Analyze policies, endorsements, exclusions, and related documents to determine coverage.
• Develop strategic litigation plans for complex claims and bad faith matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research on insurance law and policy interpretation.
• Represent clients in mediations, depositions, hearings, and trial proceedings.
• Negotiate favorable settlements while protecting clients' interests.
• Advise clients on litigation strategy, policy interpretation, and potential recovery.
• Collaborate with attorneys and litigation support on complex matters.
• Manage multiple litigation files with deadlines and procedural requirements.

My client, a well respected NYC law firm, is seeking an Insurance Coverage Attorney to join their NY office in a hybrid remote capacity.

The Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney will represent clients in complex insurance coverage and bad faith disputes. The successful candidate will advise policyholders in sophisticated litigation involving commercial insurance, personal insurance, coverage interpretation, bad faith claims, and high-exposure disputes against insurance carriers.

This position provides significant client responsibility, meaningful litigation experience, and opportunities to manage complex cases from inception through trial or settlement.

Duties

• Represent clients in sophisticated insurance coverage disputes involving commercial and personal insurance policies.
• Analyze insurance policies, endorsements, exclusions, and related insurance documents to determine available coverage.
• Develop strategic litigation plans tailored to complex insurance coverage and bad faith claims.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research involving insurance law, policy interpretation, and California bad faith jurisprudence.
• Represent clients during mediations, arbitrations, depositions, hearings, settlement conferences, and trial proceedings.
• Negotiate favorable settlements while protecting clients' legal and financial interests.
• Advise clients regarding litigation strategy, policy interpretation, and potential recovery.
• Collaborate with attorneys and litigation support professionals on sophisticated insurance matters.
• Manage multiple litigation files while ensuring compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
• Maintain exceptional client communication throughout all stages of litigation.
• Stay current on developments in New York insurance law and bad faith litigation.

Requirements

• 1-6+ years of insurance coverage litigation experience.
• Significant experience handling insurance coverage disputes and bad faith litigation.
• Strong understanding of New York insurance law and policy interpretation.
• Active admission to practice law in New York.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $110k-160k base. Factors which may affect pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
