Job summary

Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an Associate Attorney at the Corporate Office in Fort Wayne, IN to handle routine legal projects, analyze contracts, and assist with regulatory research for internal and external clients.

The ideal candidate will have a JD, 1–3 years of relevant experience, and knowledge of insurance and corporate law. You will interact with staff, provide status updates, and contribute to policy language interpretation and interdepartmental processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a JD degree are required.
• 1–3 years of relevant work experience (attorney, law clerk, paralegal, insurance industry) is required.
• Insurance-related studies and studies involving technical legal writing are desired.
• Prior experience in contract drafting, corporate law, or other legal document preparation is desired.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine document analysis and contract drafting.
• Conduct routine regulatory research and compliance analysis.
• Undertake routine legal risk management analysis and drafting for external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and staff.
• Analyze insurance coverage and draft insurance policies.
• Respond promptly to LegalAssist inquiries and to agent, policyholder, and regulator inquiries.
• Research, analyze, and apply policy language, statutes, common law, and other applicable legal concepts to routine matters.
• Advise company personnel on routine legal issues and communicate information to external customers.
• Participate in meetings and contribute to departmental processes.
• Provide timely status reports on assigned legal projects.
• Complete other projects as assigned.
