Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Insurance seeks a seasoned Insurance Company Examiner Manager to license captives and regulate captive insurers’ solvency. The role involves public speaking at industry events and travel, with hybrid work including up to one remote day weekly.

The position leads a team of examiners conducting financial and market conduct examinations to ensure compliance with state laws and protect policyholders.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of insurance regulation and accounting in SAP/GAAP is preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Insurance Company Examination team; supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate staff.
• Oversee financial and market conduct examinations from planning to reporting; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review examination work products for quality, accuracy and consistency with laws and standards.
• Serve as liaison with insurance companies, regulators, and stakeholders; present findings and represent the Department at meetings.
• Provide strategic leadership by developing examination policies, monitoring regulatory changes and collaborating on multistate examinations.
