Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Insurance Department is seeking an Insurance Company Examination Manager who will lead financial examinations and coordinate multi-state efforts to ensure the stability of Pennsylvania-domiciled insurers.

The role requires directing exam planning, budgets, and staff, while ensuring compliance with state laws, NAIC standards, and departmental guidelines. You will communicate findings to insurers and leadership and support cross‑state collaboration.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as an Insurance Company Examiner 3, or five years of professional experience in the audit or examination of the financial conditions and operations of insurance companies; a bachelor’s degree with 6 accounting credits, 3 finance credits, and 3 business law credits.
• CPA or two years of professional experience in the audit or examination of the financial conditions and operations of insurance companies;
• Designation as a Fellow/Associate of actuarial societies (FSA, FCAS, ASA, ACAS) or equivalent.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training including accounting/finance/business law credits.

Responsibilities

• Guide and mentor examination staff, providing direction and technical support
• Manage planning, coordination, budgeting, and review of examination activities
• Verify that examinations follow state laws, Department guidelines, and NAIC standards
• Review work papers and edit final examination reports for accuracy
• Communicate findings with insurers and Department leadership through meetings, letters, and reports
• Coordinate with other states and internal teams to support group examinations and avoid duplication
