Job summary

Therapy & Beyond is seeking an Authorization Specialist to manage the full lifecycle of verification and pre-authorizations. You will act as a liaison between the organization, payors, and the clinical team to minimize denials and ensure timely reimbursement for ongoing patient care.

Qualifications include at least 2 years in verification/authorization, proficiency with EMR systems and payer portals, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in insurance verification, medical billing, or authorization management.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and payer portals.
• Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and oversee authorization processes, payor requirements, and best practices.
• Initiate and secure initial benefits, pre-authorizations, and re-authorizations via payor portals, fax, or telephone.
• Follow up according to payor guidelines to expedite claims and prevent revenue loss.
• Handle high-complexity requests including retroactive authorizations and SCAs.
• Verify authorization quantities, CPT codes, and dates in the practice management system.
• Coordinate with healthcare providers to obtain notes and documentation in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain a centralized Payor Master List and internal manuals.
• Review insurance group pre-certification requirements to ensure compliance before services.
