The Jonus Group is seeking an Accounting Operations Associate in Cockeysville, MD. This full-time, in-office role for the first 90 days offers a potential transition to hybrid work. Responsibilities include processing payments, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate financial transactions.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree, experience in insurance or agency software (Applied Epic a plus), and strong Excel skills to support the accounting team and day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Prior experience in an insurance brokerage or insurer is preferred.
• Familiarity with Applied Epic or similar agency management systems is a plus.
• Proficiency in Excel and MS Office for financial tasks and reporting.

Responsabilités

• Manage the accounting department inbox and respond to payment inquiries from carriers and premium finance companies.
• Process daily payments via checks, ACH, and wires.
• Review carrier statements, premiums, and commissions across policies.
• Audit positive pay files to support fraud prevention.
• Reconcile accounts and remit payments accurately and timely to carrier partners.
• Collaborate with account executives to resolve billing discrepancies.
• Provide guidance to service teams on billing procedures and payment resolutions.
• Verify taxes are handled correctly (brokerage vs carrier) and process premium refunds.
