Placements24 is seeking an Instrumentation Technician for on-site work in Welkom to maintain and calibrate plant instrumentation systems. You will service sensors, transmitters, valves, and related equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operations in a critical energy environment.

The role requires 4+ years of hands-on experience, strong calibration and diagnostic skills, and a solid understanding of DCS/PLC control systems.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or N3 Certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician.
• Strong understanding of instrumentation principles, control systems (DCS/PLC), and calibration.
• Experience with safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot using diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of plant instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level).
• Install, inspect, and repair instrumentation systems and control loops per specs and safety procedures.
• Read P&IDs and electrical schematics for maintenance and repair.
• Respond promptly to instrumentation issues to minimize production impact.
• Maintain accurate records of calibrations and repairs.
• Participate in safety programs and comply with health and safety regulations in Welkom.

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the oil and gas sector , requires a skilled Instrumentation Technician to join their operations in Welkom . This role is essential for ensuring the accurate calibration, maintenance, and repair of critical instrumentation systems that monitor and control industrial processes. You will be responsible for the optimal functioning of sensors, transmitters, control valves, and associated equipment, contributing to the safety and efficiency of operations in the Free State. This is a hands-on role offering significant responsibility and the chance to work within a technically demanding and vital industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of all plant instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments.
• Install, inspect, and repair instrumentation systems and associated control loops according to technical specifications and safety procedures.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and manufacturer's documentation for effective maintenance and repair.
• Respond promptly to instrumentation-related issues and emergencies to minimize production impact.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, calibrations, and repairs performed.
• Participate in safety programs and ensure all work is conducted in compliance with health and safety regulations in Welkom .
