Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) to maintain the operational integrity of their extensive production machinery and equipment in Welkom . This critical role ensures minimal downtime by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical failures, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the Manufacturing & Production facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintenance, ensuring that all systems operate reliably and safely within this industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures in a timely manner, minimizing production downtime.
• Install, calibrate, and test new equipment and machinery.
• Read and interpret blueprints , schematics, and technical manuals to guide repair and maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment history.
• Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and participate in safety training programs.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and general machinery.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools , as well as diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or a related field is highly desirable.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
