Job summary

RYAM seeks an Instrumentation Technician for the Fernandina plant in Florida. You will install, calibrate and repair measurement instruments and control systems across automated processes, working with DCS/PLC systems and valve-changing tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or certification in instrumentation/engineering tech preferred.
• 2+ years in industrial/manufacturing, electrical or mechanical focus.
• Experience with plant ops, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Computer program experience preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work rotating shifts with overtime.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate and repair instruments and related equipment.
• Work with electronic control systems including microprocessors, sensors and final control elements.
• Experienced in DCS and PLC control systems.
• Knowledgeable of valve rigging and change-out.
• Measure levels, pressures, temps, flow and analytical processes.
• Test instrumentation and control systems, maintain test equipment.
• Coordinate crew activities and maintain records/files.
• Read circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
• Troubleshoot and repair system components; install control and measurement instruments on existing or new equipment.

Instrumentation Technicians are responsible for the safe installation, repair and maintenance of measurement equipment and control systems throughout the plant. This is a multi-craft position requiring individuals to be proficient in Instrumentation and functional in the electrical trade.

You will shape the future of the Fernandina Instrumentation Shop by:

• Calibrating and repairing instruments and associated equipment
• Working with electronic control systems including microprocessors, sensors, and final control elements used in automated processes
• Experienced in DCS and PLC control systems
• Knowledgeable of automatic valve rigging and change-out
• Measuring levels, pressures, temperatures, flow, and analytical processes
• Testing instrumentation and control systems and maintaining test equipment
• Coordinating crew activities as required and maintaining records and files
• Consulting manuals, reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
• Troubleshoot and Repair system components or removing and replacing defective partsInstalling control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipment

Qualified candidates will bring the following experience and skill sets:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associates degree or certification in instrumentation, engineering tech or related preferred
• Two plus years of industrial or manufacturing experience; electrical or mechanical focused
• Experience with plant operations, instrumentation, and control systems
• Computer program experience preferred
• Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work rotating shifts including some mandatory overtime
• Regular and predictable attendance
