Job summary

Optimized Process Designs (OPD) is seeking an Instrumentation Lead to drive the instrumentation scope on an EPC project from development through commissioning and turnover. You will own procurement of instrumentation, markup P&IDs in SPI, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure on-time delivery.

The role sits at OPD’s headquarters in Katy, TX, and requires strong interaction with clients and a track record in smart instrumentation design.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in engineering or technology.
• Experience with EPC project flow in refinery, chemical, power, or midstream industries.
• Working knowledge of API, PIP, ASME, ISA standards.
• Experience with SPI software and instrumentation design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Instrumentation scope throughout the project lifecycle from development through commissioning and turnover.
• Develop, review and markup P&IDs to ensure compliance with standards and accurate SPI documentation.
• Own the specification, selection and procurement of instrumentation and related devices.
• Collaborate with vendors and procurement teams to obtain quotes and evaluate bids.
• Review equipment packages and installation requirements for compliance and constructability.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning teams to remove barriers.
• Maintain Instrument Indexes, Datasheets, Instrument Project Plans and Trackers and SPI databases.
• Support construction and commissioning activities by resolving technical issues and ensuring instrumentation readiness.
• Develop team capability through coaching and knowledge sharing.
