Job summary

Optimized Process Designs LLC (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions company, seeks an I&E Project Lead to helm the Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls scope for EPC projects from development through startup at our Katy, TX headquarters.

You will own estimates, execution strategies, and cross-discipline coordination with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and the client, balancing technical leadership with practical project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience leading engineering work and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Track record collaborating with clients, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead and execution owner for all I&E activities on EPC projects from proposal through startup.
• Develop project estimates, scope definitions, execution strategies, and project plans.
• Lead I&E execution to meet cost, quality, safety, and schedule objectives.
• Forecast resource requirements, manage risks and critical path, coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Lead client engagement, change management, and cross-functional coordination to ensure delivery.
• Identify challenges, develop solutions, and drive issue resolution to maintain momentum.
• Lead development of electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation solutions with internal and external teams.
• Oversee electrical system design, power distribution, grounding, hazardous area classification, studies, and equipment specs.
• Develop control philosophies, architectures, and integration solutions.
• Review deliverables like I/O Lists, Control Narratives, and PLC designs.
• Lead safety reviews (PHA, HAZOP) and ensure compliance with codes and client requirements.
• Manage procurement for major electrical, instrumentation, and controls packages.
• Evaluate bids, support vendor selection, and manage equipment packages through design to startup.
• Lead FAT activities and coordinate with suppliers for cost-effective solutions.
• Provide technical leadership during construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Coordinate field issue resolution, design changes, and testing.
• Develop commissioning turnover and startup strategies.
