Job summary

Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions company, seeks an Instrumentation Lead to drive specification and procurement of instrumentation in EPC projects from development through turnover. The role requires strong customer interaction, detailed design experience, and SPI proficiency.

The position sits at OPD headquarters in Katy, TX, Monday–Friday and emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, timely execution and compliant instrument documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in an engineering or technology discipline.
• Experience with EPC project flow in refinery, chemical, power plant or midstream industries.
• Working knowledge of Codes and Standards such as API, PIP, ASME, ISA, etc.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Instrumentation scope throughout the project lifecycle from development through commissioning and turnover.
• Develop, review, and markup P&IDs to ensure compliance with standards while maintaining SPI data.
• Own the specification, selection and procurement of instrumentation including control valves and measurement devices.
• Coordinate with vendors and procurement to obtain quotes, perform bid evaluations, issue POs, and ensure timely delivery.
• Review equipment packages and install requirements for constructability and client alignment.
• Collaborate with Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams.
• Maintain Instrument Indexes, Datasheets, and SPI databases per standards.
• Support construction and commissioning activities by resolving technical issues.
