Job summary

Trinity Consultants Engineering & EHS Workforce Solutions seeks an Instrumentation Reliability Engineer to lead improvements in reliability instrumentation, safety instrumented systems (SIS) and PLCs. The role acts as the SME to drive capital reliability enhancements and optimal asset performance.

You will collaborate with Process and Mechanical departments, gather field feedback, and oversee documentation, budgets, and field start-ups.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in chemical/oil & gas sectors supporting Electrical/Instrumentation in a plant environment.
• Knowledge of Bently-Nevada vintages, Woodward products, Triconex logic coding and structured text.
• Experience with PLC ladder logic and relay logic.
• Willingness to be available outside normal hours as a technical consultant.
• Familiarity with ISA S84/IEC 61511, API 560/611/619/670, NFPA 8 standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead improvements of reliability instrumentation, SIS, PLCs and field relay logic.
• Act as Instrumentation SME to lead installations and capital reliability enhancements.
• Coordinate with Process and Mechanical departments on instrumentation reliability.
• Gather feedback to identify upgrades for uptime and capital designs.
• Provide quality control and design reviews for instrumentation projects.
• Specify equipment, installation materials and quotations for procurement.
• Create bid packages for engineering services.
• Oversee equipment records and as-built documentation in the DMS.
• Track and report project performance indicators to validate ROI.
• Contribute to five-year budget outlook for instrument & controls improvements.
• Assist in field during capital start-ups, testing and shutdowns.
• Provide troubleshooting and RCA support for equipment failures.
• Initiate Management of Change for instrumentation-related changes.

Job description

• Lead improvements of reliability instrumentation, safety instrumented systems (SIS), programmable logic controllers (PLC) and field relay logic.


• Instrumentation Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead installations and employ capital and reliability enhancements to obtain optimal asset performance.


• Act as the focal point for instrumentation reliability and work closely with the Process and Mechanical departments.


• Gather feedback from Operations and Maintenance to identify technology upgrades and improve capital designs with a focus of increased equipment uptime.


• Provide quality control and design reviews of new projects that involve any instrumentation systems.


• Specify equipment, installation materials, and quotations for procurement.


• Create bid packages for engineering services.


• Provide oversight for equipment record tracking and ensure correct as-built information is filed and accessible in the document management system.


• Track, evaluate, and report project performance indicators to validate project ROI


• Provide input to budget tracking and estimating five-year budget outlook for instrument & controls improvement plans.


• Provide assistance in the field during capital start-ups, testing, and tracking shutdowns or upsets.


• Provide troubleshooting assistance and Root Cause Failure Analysis expertise and support as needed for equipment failures.


• Initiate Management of Change for Instrumentation related changes.

Requirements

• gMinimum 5 years of experience in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, or refining industry supporting Electrical / Instrumentation in a plant environment


• .Logic proficiencies: Bently-Nevada vintages and Woodward products, Triconex logic coding and structured text, PLC ladder logic and function blocks, relay logic & component assembly


• .Willing to be available outside of normal working hours to serve as technical consultan
