Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a qualified technician to de-s;ign, set up, and operate electronic instrumentation for mechanical, structural, and electrical testing. The role involves translating test data for engineering decisions and maintaining test apparatus to ensure reliable results.

The candidate will sketch and modify fixtures, install units in test facilities, and analyze data to generate graphs and reports.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Responsibilities

• Devises, selects, sets up, and operates electronic instrumentation and related apparatus for testing and translates test data for engineering decisions.
• Sketches and builds or modifies jigs, fixtures, and instruments and verifies dimensional and functional acceptability of devices.
• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
• Installs or directs personnel in installation of unit in test facility.
• Operates test apparatus to produce and record effects of test conditions such as vibration, temperature, humidity, etc.
• Analyzes and converts test data to usable form and prepares graphs and reports.
• May plan test program and may use computerized equipment and software to perform testing functions.
