Job summary

Ventura Water is seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and control systems at City water and wastewater facilities. You will work on PLC- and SCADA-driven processes and industrial instrumentation, with emphasis on safety, precision, and reliability.

The role requires a two-year technical degree and two years of experience, plus a California Class C license.

Qualifications

• Two-year college program in electrical/electronic technology or related field.
• Two years of experience installing, operating, maintaining and repairing electrical and electronic control systems.
• California Class C driver license required.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, repair instrumentation and control equipment (flow meters, transmitters, sensors, analyzers, recorders, VFDs, PLC systems).
• Diagnose electrical/electronic failures in control panels, MCCs, instrumentation loops and related systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on SCADA-monitored systems for reliability.
• Assist with PLC, HMI, and telemetry programming/configuration under standards and procedures.
• Interpret drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and manuals to support repairs.
• Install/maintain conduit, wiring, grounding and power distribution per codes and safety rules.
• Work on low/medium-voltage systems with proper lockout/tagout safety procedures.
• Document maintenance, calibrations and part replacements in CMMS.
• Coordinate with engineers, operators and contractors on upgrades and capital projects.
• Participate in stand-by, emergency response and after-hours call-outs.
• Ensure electrical/instrumentation systems remain safe, reliable and compliant.
