Job summary

Twin City Fan is seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical Technician (I/E Tech) - Sr. Maintenance Tech to join our manufacturing team in Mitchell, SD.

You will install, repair, and optimize a wide range of production equipment, including electrical controls, PLC-based automation, and robotic systems. The role requires strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills, CMMS experience, and the ability to train others while improving maintenance programs to boost reliability.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma
• South Dakota Journeyman Electrical license preferred but not required
• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience or Technical Associate's degree and 3 years' experience
• Experience working with CMMS to create, approve, and close work orders
• Read and understand safety rules, standard work instructions, electrical diagrams and schematics, test sheets, completion sheets and quality assurance sheets
• Basic Microsoft office required

Responsibilities

• Builds, installs, maintains, and repairs production equipment including electrical controls and control panels
• Solve advanced mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production equipment
• Program and troubleshoot control systems including robotic and PLC based automation; troubleshoot PLC I/O and 4-20mA loops, 120V/24DC I/O, and VFDs
• Identify root causes, repair or replace parts, rewire and install related instrument/electrical goods
• Develop and improve preventative maintenance schedules
• Collaborate with management to improve equipment reliability
• Coordinate with vendors for repairs, training, and installations
• Ensure safety devices are inspected regularly for all machines
• Provide training for technicians and production leads
• Perform 5S and maintain cleanliness and organization
• Act as informal leader and mentor to maintenance team
• Travel up to 10%

Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Builds, installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of production equipment. This may include electrical controls, circuits, control panels, forklifts, cranes, and other operations equipment in the plant.


• Solve advanced mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on various production equipment


• Program and troubleshoot control systems including robotic and PLC based automation. Troubleshoot PLC, I/O including 4-20mA loops, 120V/24DC I/O, and VFD's.


• Troubleshoot and identify a root cause, repair, or replace parts, rewire and install relatedinstrument/electricalgoods including conduit and/or wiring.


• Develop and improve preventative maintenance schedules


• Collaborating with manager and plant management to improve operational processes with respect to equipment reliability


• Schedule and coordinate with vendors for repairs, training, and installations


• Verifies safety devices are inspected regularly for all machines and equipment.


• Provide training for technicians, manufacturing engineers, and production leads.


• Performs 5S activities and inspections to maintain cleanliness and organization


• Acts as informal leader and mentor to fellow maintenance team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Requires a high school diploma

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

To successfully perform the essential function of this position, employees must have the ability to:

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is continuously exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat and cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places, fumes, or airborne particles and/or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
