Job summary

Twin City Fan is seeking a production supervisor in Brookings, SD to lead a team of operators and ensure the production department delivers on its targets. You will drive continuous improvement, manage standard work, and train staff to follow detailed procedures in a dynamic plant environment.

The role requires 2–5 years of leadership experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. Forklift and crane training certifications will be provided by the company.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • 2–5 years leading or supervising others.
  • Proven ability to lead, direct work, and delegate as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Meticulous record-keeping and strong organizational skills.
  • Confidentiality of employee information; ability to handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to a team of operators to meet production department deliverables.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the value stream.
  • Manage and participate in Gemba activities.
  • Create and update standard work (work instructions) with support departments.
  • Train operators and ensure adherence to detailed WIs, processes, and procedures.
  • Plan, assign, direct, and evaluate work; handle performance issues and discipline as needed.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to maintain production schedule and commitments.
  • Collaborate with quality, engineering, and maintenance to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Take corrective action on deviations and analyze value stream issues.
  • Communicate priorities and issues to operations leadership; highlight critical issues.
  • Ensure orders are delivered on time with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Oversee scheduling, production, and inspection per value stream.
  • Complete daily metric trackers, scrap and training records, and production reporting.
  • Study production schedules and estimate labor requirements; adjust procedures to meet schedules.
  • Uphold 5S and maintain a clean, safe work environment; ensure safety compliance.
  • Lead daily pre-shift huddles and manage employee-related issues.
  • Ensure teamwork and improve morale and motivation through implementation.
  • Complete annual performance reviews for operators in area of responsibility.
  • Comply with TCF Quality System policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Act in line with TCF Core Values; perform other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The position will be responsible for providing leadership to a team of operators to ensure the deliverables of a production department are met.



  • D rive continuous improvement in the value stream.

  • Manage and deliver and actively participate in Gemba

  • Partner with support departments to update and create standard work (Work Instructions) when necessary.

  • Train operators and ensure they follow detailed WIs, processes, and procedures to correctly produce products from the value stream.

  • Responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in a positive and constructive manner.

  • Confers with other supervisors to ensure the production schedule and commitments are maintained.

  • Partner with the quality, engineering, and maintenance departments to ensure problems with quality, processes, equipment, or materials are resolved correctly in a timely manner.

  • Take corrective action on deviations.

  • Analyze key issues affecting the value stream and initiate action plans.

  • Highlight critical issues in the value stream to operations leadership.

  • Partner with internal customers and suppliers to ensure orders are delivered on time.

  • Oversee the scheduling, production, and inspection required per the value stream.

  • Complete Daily Metric Tracker, scrap records, training records and other documentation as required.

  • Complete production reporting of work orders to ensure accuracy of component inventory.

  • Studies production work schedules and estimates employee hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production/department schedules and goals.

  • Uphold 5S requirements and maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.

  • Ensure a safe place to work.

  • Support communication by having daily pre-shift huddles.

  • Daily management of employee issues and problem resolution.

  • Ensure good teamwork among value stream employees.

  • Improve morale and motivation through implementation.

  • Complete annual performance reviews for operators in area of responsibility.

  • Comply with the policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements of the TCF Quality System.

  • Other duties as assigned.



  • High school diploma or GED (required) Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

  • High level of initiative and flexibility in adapting to changing needs of a dynamic work environment.

  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Fall Protection Training


To successfully perform the essential function of this position, employees must have the ability to:



  • Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.

  • Continuously or as needed, stand; walk; use hands to finger, ability to reach with hands and arms above shoulder height; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in small spaces.


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is continuously exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places, fumes or airborne particles and/or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
