Job summary

FuelCell Energy in Torrington, CT is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Technician to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, test, install and repair plant equipment and systems, including PLCs, control systems, gas delivery, and Ethernet networking.

You will write PLC logic, diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, install equipment, and support electrical systems while collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering and other departments.

Qualifications

• AS Degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• Minimum of 4 years power plant operations/maintenance or equivalent industry experience troubleshooting of instrument, electrical, mechanical issues required.

Responsibilities

• Write PLC logic changes as directed by Manufacturing Engineering staff.
• Diagnose system, PLC, and equipment problems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems.
• Install/replace plant equipment and systems.
• Assist in electrical troubleshooting of AC and DC electrical systems.
• Assist in maintaining the preventative maintenance program.
• Maintain plant inventory system.
• Maintain and troubleshoot plant network communications.
• Install and maintain system terminal software.
• Maintain plant control system, gas quality monitoring system and associated instrumentation and control equipment.
• Update controls drawings and schematics.
• Communicate with inter-departmental personnel, vendors, and customers as necessary.
• Follow approved plant operating, maintenance and health and safety procedures.
• Participate in Hazard assessments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Provide after hour’s support for emergency work.
