Job summary

Burns & McDonnell, Kansas City, invites Engineering Interns to apply for a hands-on role supporting standard engineering tasks across markets, with a focus on Water. Interns assist lead engineers, update designs, perform routine analyses, and gain exposure to project management.

You will develop engineering fundamentals, communicate findings effectively, and demonstrate initiative in a collaborative team environment while pursuing an ABET-accredited engineering degree.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Currently enrolled in a related post-secondary program and in good standing.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Active involvement in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to tasks.
• Assist with design and updating of engineering systems; support lead engineers.
• Help with project duties and other assignments as needed.
