Job summary

General Atomics seeks an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer to support the DIII-D program in San Diego, CA. You will oversee I&C system design, installation, testing, and optimization across plant operations, ensuring reliable automation and regulatory compliance.

Under supervision, you will work with senior engineers and scientists to deploy sensors, DAQ, PCB updates, and documentation, while coordinating with vendors and internal teams to meet project goals.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing PLC/SCADA projects in industrial settings.
• Familiarity with sensors, DAQ devices and signal conditioning.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and analyze PCB designs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety standards compliance (LOTO, confined space).
• Oversee design, installation, maintenance of I&C systems.
• Deploy and troubleshoot sensors, DAQ, and control hardware.
• Support data collection and interpretation for experiments.
• Prepare technical reports and design reviews.
