Job summary

General Atomics in San Diego seeks a DevOps Engineer to join the Core Services IT team supporting the DIII-D National Fusion Facility. You will serve as the critical link between software developers and SysOps, enabling efficient, secure, and automated infrastructure for research workloads.

The role emphasizes virtualization, IaC templating, and rapid patching, with a focus on DOE-compliant security responses and robust CI/CD pipeline administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience with DevOps tooling and automation.
• Experience with virtualization and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Responsibilities

• Bridge PCS developers and physical infra to optimize hardware-software configurations.
• Own Proxmox VE cluster management for high availability and scaling.
• Create and maintain Ansible templates for automated deployments.
• Lead patch management using enterprise tools like Red Hat Satellite/Foreman.
• Drive security monitoring and rapid response to vulnerabilities without impacting runtimes.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable deployments.
