Job summary

Targa Resources is seeking a skilled Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation (I&C) Engineer to design, implement, and support instrumentation and control systems for midstream facilities and large capital projects. You will lead I&C scope, coordinate with multiple teams, and ensure safe, reliable operation from design through startup.

The role requires experience in PLC programming, FAT/SAT testing, and knowledge of NFPA/ISA/API/OSHA standards, with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

Engineering degree with 3–5 years of related experience or equivalent combination
Proficiency with Power BI for reporting and analytics
Working knowledge of NFPA, ISA, API, and OSHA codes and standards
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to travel at least 25% of the time

Responsibilities

Provide instrumentation, controls, and automation support including troubleshooting and MOC/HSE compliance
Lead I&C scope on major projects coordinating with multiple teams
Develop and review instrumentation and control system deliverables (SIS/PCS/ESD, diagrams, narratives)
Interpret drawings, markup redlines, and support drafting and construction activities
Coordinate third‑party engineering work and oversee I&C design
Develop PLC programming and provide FAT/SAT support
Maintain instrumentation specifications and best practices
Support project lifecycle from feasibility to startup and closeout
