Job summary

Targa Resources seeks a Supervisor, Instrumentation, Electrical & Controls (IEC) to lead IEC engineering activities across midstream assets, including processing plants, compressor stations, and pipelines. You will guide design, execution, and operation of electrical, instrumentation, and safety systems while aligning with safety and reliability objectives.

Based in Texas, you will mentor engineers, drive technical governance, and manage budgets and schedules for capital projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
• Six or more years of progressive engineering experience in midstream oil and gas or similar industrial environments.
• Strong working knowledge of hazardous area power systems, control systems, and safety-critical designs.
• Willingness to travel to off-site field/corporate locations at least 30% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop instrumentation, electrical, and controls resources supporting Operations and Major Projects.
• Set clear expectations for technical quality, safety, responsiveness, and accountability across the team.
• Provide technical mentorship and career development for engineers and specialists, building bench strength for growth.
• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex technical, reliability, and operational issues.
• Own and maintain IEC engineering standards, specifications, and design philosophies in partnership with other engineering managers.
• Ensure standards are applied across greenfield projects, brownfield expansions, and facility upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with codes and regulations (NEC, NFPA, API, ISA, IEEE, PSM).
• Provide technical review/approval for electrical area classification, power system architecture, SIS/ESD, and automation strategies.
• Act as IEC oversight lead for capital projects from concept through commissioning and startup.
