Job summary

Jedson Engineering in Cincinnati, OH is seeking an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Lead to guide major capital projects from study through startup. You will work with clients to define scope, supervise instrumentation design, and lead the engineering team to deliver robust control systems.

The ideal candidate has a B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, 6–15 years of project experience, Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley programming, and AutoCAD skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley programming is required.
• 6–15 years of project engineering experience, including EPC or engineering firm experience.
• Experience as a controls engineer on major capital projects from study to startup.
• Ability to drive projects within budget from initiation to completion.
• Knowledge of front-end and detailed engineering processes.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build client relationships.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Create/update schematics, termination drawings, or loop sheets for instrument wiring.
• Design custom control panels to meet project needs.

Controls & Instrumentation Lead

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

We’re looking for an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Lead to help lead and manage a project scope. This role will work directly with the clients to understand the project needs and help manage and direct the execution of the engineering deliverables.

• Manage discipline aspects of projects from inception through execution
• Develop and document the scope of work
• Create and update schematics, termination drawings, or loop sheets for instrument wiring
• Design custom control panels to meet the project need
• Size and specify instrumentation including pressure and temperature transmitters, flow meters, modulating control valves, regulators, on/off valves, and actuators
• Create datasheets and work with vendors to get quotes for instrumentation and valves for various applications
• Coordinate with engineering team to select the appropriate devices
• Understand project success criteria and ensure client expectations are met
• Develop and track project costs
• Identify, document, and communicate changes to scope
• Identify and effectively respond to clients issues and needs
• Ensure value is provided to the client and develop & earn their trust
• Review and manage all project deliverables
• Coordinate and supervise project implementation, control project costs, monitor progress and quality of the project
