Job summary

Jedson Engineering in Cincinnati, OH seeks an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Lead to guide and manage complex project scopes, interfacing directly with clients to define needs and direct the engineering deliverables.

Responsibilities include leading discipline activities from inception through execution, developing scopes of work, designing control panels, sizing instrumentation, creating datasheets, and ensuring project costs and client satisfaction are met.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley programming.
• 6–15 years of related project engineering experience.
• Experienced controls engineer on major capital projects.
• Ability to manage project scope and client satisfaction.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build client relationships.

• Manage discipline aspects of projects from inception through execution.
• Develop and document the scope of work.
• Create and update schematics, termination drawings, or loop sheets for instrument wiring.
• Design custom control panels to meet the project need.
• Size and specify instrumentation including transmitters, meters, valves, regulators, actuators.
• Create datasheets and work with vendors for quotes.
• Coordinate with engineering team to select devices.
• Understand project success criteria and ensure client expectations are met.
• Develop and track project costs.
• Identify and communicate changes to scope.
• Identify and respond to client issues and needs.
• Ensure value is provided to the client and earn their trust.
• Review and manage all project deliverables.
• Coordinate and supervise project implementation, monitor costs, quality.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

We’re looking for an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Lead to help lead and manage a project scope. This role will work directly with the clients to understand the project needs and help manage and direct the execution of the engineering deliverables.

• Manage discipline aspects of projects from inception through execution
• Develop and document the scope of work
• Create and update schematics, termination drawings, or loop sheets for instrument wiring
• Design custom control panels to meet the project need
• Size and specify instrumentation including pressure and temperature transmitters, flow meters, modulating control valves, regulators, on/off valves, and actuators
• Create datasheets and work with vendors to get quotes for instrumentation and valves for various applications
• Coordinate with engineering team to select the appropriate devices
• Understand project success criteria and ensure client expectations are met
• Develop and track project costs
• Identify, document, and communicate changes to scope
• Identify and effectively respond to clients issues and needs
• Ensure value is provided to the client and develop & earn their trust
• Review and manage all project deliverables
• Coordinate and supervise project implementation, control project costs, monitor progress and quality of the project
• PLC & HMI Programming

• B.S. degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley programming.
• 6-15 years of related experience in project engineering, including EPC or engineering firm experience
• Experienced Controls engineer on major capital projects from the study phase, detailed design, construction support, check out and start-up.
• Oversees project execution to ensure completion and client satisfaction
• Demonstrated experience in driving projects within budget from initiation through a successful and timely conclusion
• Knowledge of front-end engineering and detailed engineering process
• Strong interpersonal skills to build and foster positive client relationships
