Job summary

GOEBEL FIXTURE COMPANY in Las Vegas, NV seeks an IC&E Tech to maintain plant instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters, and to troubleshoot and repair electrical motors, switchgear, transformers, and related equipment in a 90MW facility.

Qualified candidates have 3 years of instrumentation experience and 3 years as an industrial electrician, with knowledge of NFPA 70E/OSHA and the ability to read P&ID diagrams. Night shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of instrumentation experience in an industrial control environment; power generation preferred.
  • 3 years as an electrician in an industrial environment with medium/high voltage; power generation preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical theory and related concepts.
  • Technical degree or equivalent in electronics and/or industrial control preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and calibrate site instrumentation; perform CMMS-based calibrations.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain plant instrumentation and control systems.
  • Ensure safety and regulatory compliance (NFPA 70E, OSHA) in all tasks.
  • Read and interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams and electrical drawings.

Description

The IC&E Tech is responsible for maintenance of all Plant instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters. He performs troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of electrical motors, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and all other site electrical equipment, voltages range from 24 VDC through 13.8 KV. Comply with plant policies including those concerning safety and environmental.

The Facility is a 90MW natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant in Las Vegas, NV.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Proactively monitor and evaluate site instrumentation. Perform CMMS routine scheduled calibrations of all plant instrumentation.
    • Report, document, and actively pursue a remedy for all findings that need corrective action.
    • Have a creative problem-solving mindset when it comes to solving difficult problems, yet always keeping safety in the forefront.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous safe practices.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of electrical principles that are commonly used in an electrical power plant.
  • Remain current with all rules and regulations regarding NFPA 70E and OSHA electrical specific codes through continuous training.
  • Perform routine and major maintenance on instrumentation and control systems throughout the plant.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and adjust Programmable Logic Control systems and electronics used throughout the plant.
  • Be proficient at installing/maintaining electrical conduits and wiring and site heat tracing.
  • Perform maintenance and calibrations on electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic valve actuators.
  • Perform valve stroke testing and calibrations.
  • Install conduits and wiring for instrumentation and controllers.
  • Complete material requisitions in a complete and accurate manner.
  • Train and qualify designated site personnel on electrical switching for users up to 13.8kv.
  • Monitor and maintain the facility’s CEMs system and related equipment. Assist with regulatory reports.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • 3 years of instrumentation experience in an industrial control environment. Experience in the power generation industry preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience as an electrician in an industrial environment working with medium and high voltage electrical components. Experience in power generation industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical theory and concepts.
  • A technical degree or equivalent in electronics and/or industrial control preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electronic and automatic control systems and components.
  • Ability to read and understand plant Process & Instrumentation Diagrams as well as detailed instrument/control and electrical drawings and documentation.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7/365 environment and in extreme weather conditions.
    • Night shift duty will be required as necessary.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Emerson Ovation Distributed Control System platform a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GE Mark IV control and GE EX2100 Excitation equipment a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Highway Addressable Remote Transducer capable transmitters a plus.
  • Familiarity with NERC/WECC regulatory compliance a plus.
  • Be able to perform effectively in a team environment without close supervision.
  • Can work well with and through others internal and external to the plant.
  • Use discretion concerning confidential and sensitive company information.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Summary

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
