Job description

Brief Description

This Electrical/Instrumentation Technician position will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all electrical and instrumentation equipment in the facility. This role requires a high level of skill in inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, and installation of power plant equipment and systems. Individuals with multi‑skill experience at power plants are preferred.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret isometric drawings, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and electrical diagrams.
  • Perform power plant maintenance activities including troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and tuning of instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot 480 V–4160 V electrical systems including motors, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 24 VDC–125 VDC control systems including switches, solenoids, protective relays, and switchgear.
  • Calibrate and maintain field instrumentation (pressure, flow, differential pressure, level).
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive calibration program.
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain control, block, and manual isolation valves.
  • Respond to plant power outages and equipment failures.
  • Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and supporting physical inventory activities.
  • Maintain plant operating manuals, technical references, and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
  • Assist with operation of plant equipment and systems as directed.
  • Support and participate in safety and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain effective relationships.
  • Complete required operations and maintenance training and qualification programs.
  • Make timely and effective decisions during non‑routine operating situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Seek additional training and certifications as required.
Requirements
  • 2–5+ years of experience in a power plant environment or relevant military experience.
  • Experience with test equipment and precision instruments.
  • Completion of technical training in electrical or instrumentation.
  • Specific power plant experience.
  • Physical ability to lift 40–75 lbs, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, push, pull, etc., and work around rotating equipment and highly energized/pressurized systems.
  • Capability to multi‑task, prioritize work, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office).
Summary

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, maintain a clean driving record, and be comfortable operating a vehicle. This position may require occasional travel.
