Job summary

NAES Corporation seeks an Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) Technician at the Ferndale Generating Station in Ferndale, WA. This role calibrates, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operation. The position is full-time on-site with a standard Monday–Friday day shift.

Base pay ranges from $56.20 to $58.39 per hour, with eligibility for an annual performance bonus. A valid U.S.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation and Control, Electronics Technology, Industrial Electrical Technology, or related technology (preferred).
  • Experience in power generation or other industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and install plant instrumentation and control systems.
  • Perform maintenance on plant electrical equipment and distribution systems up to 115 kV.
  • Maintain and support programming of PLC, DCS, SCADA, turbine control and related systems.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot turbine, HRSG and associated control systems.
  • Support plant testing, commissioning, outages, and capital projects.
  • Monitor equipment performance, analyze data, and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and calibration documentation.
  • Follow safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.

Description

The Ferndale Generating Station in Ferndale, WA is a 2x1 combined cycle natural gas power plant that also supplies process steam to a neighboring refinery. It incorporates two GE 7EA combustion turbines paired with a GE steam turbine, collectively generating 270 MW of electricity.

The Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) Technician maintains the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant by calibrating, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment.

Scope of Responsibilities
  • Calibrate, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and install plant instrumentation and control systems.
  • Perform maintenance on plant electrical equipment and distribution systems up to 115 kV.
  • Maintain and support programming of PLC, DCS, SCADA, turbine control and related systems.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot turbine, HRSG and associated control systems.
  • Support plant testing, commissioning, outages, and capital projects.
  • Monitor equipment performance, analyze data, and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and calibration documentation.
  • Follow all safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation and Control, Electronics Technology, Industrial Electrical Technology, or related technology (preferred). Equivalent training or experience considered.
  • Experience in power generation or other industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of medium- and high-voltage electrical systems up to 115 kV.
  • Working knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, turbine control, combustion control, boiler control, and industrial network systems.
  • Ability to install, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems.
  • Strong analytical skills to improve plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Experience collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, contractors, and vendors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license.
Compensation

Base pay $56.20 to $58.39 per hour with eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

Working Conditions

Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs, working at heights, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in confined spaces, and exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures and noise.

Use of protective equipment: hard hats, safety glasses, respiratory masks, ear protection, chemical suits, flame‑resistant clothing, hot gloves, high‑voltage gear, and fall protection. Smoking is prohibited.

Schedule

Standard Monday‑Friday day‑shift schedule, with occasional extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, callouts and on‑call duty.
