Job summary

Crane Currency Malta Limited in Dalton, MA is seeking an Instrumentation & Calibration Technician to keep our manufacturing lines running smoothly. You will proactively maintain equipment, diagnose issues, and address mechanical problems to minimize downtime while safeguarding safety and quality.

The role requires electronics and pneumatics knowledge, PLC software familiarity, and the ability to read schematics and manuals.

Qualifications

• Fundamental math skills and basic electronics knowledge.
• Ability to read schematics, drawings, and manuals.
• Proficient with hand and power tools and safe work practices.
• Experience with PLC software applications.
• Comfort with Windows OS; MS Word and Excel.
• Willingness to be on 24-hour on-call rotation as trainee.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled inspections and adjustments to minimize breakdowns.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and repair promptly.
• Maintain facility infrastructure including lighting, HVAC, and plumbing.
• Document maintenance activities and support safety audits.

How you will make an impact:

Play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a manufacturing business. By proactively maintaining equipment and swiftly addressing mechanical issues, they help minimize downtime and prevent costly disruptions to production schedules. Their expertise contributes to workplace safety by ensuring machinery operates within regulatory standards and identifying potential hazards before they elevate. Additionally, they support continuous improvement efforts by recommending upgrades and process optimizations that enhance productivity.

• Perform scheduled inspections, servicing, and adjustments on machinery and equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
• Maintain the physical condition of the facility, including lighting, plumbing, HVAC systems, and general infrastructure to support a safe and efficient work environment.
• Record maintenance activities, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and support audits through accurate documentation.

Knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

Required:

• Possess basic math skills
• Understanding of electronics and pneumatics systems.
• Competent in the safe use of hand and power tools.
• Ability in access and understand PLC software applications
• Ability to read and follow schematics, drawings, technical manuals and blueprints.
• Computer literacy with the ability to use PC software including, Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
• Must be available to provide 24 hour on‑call service and be placed on the night call list as a trainee.

Preferred:

• Ability to properly use all test equipment (multi-meters, scopes, pneumatic and electronic calibration devices).
• Working knowledge in the design and implementation of PLC / HMI applications, steam flow and HVAC systems.
• Working Knowledge of AC/DC Circuity.
• Working Knowledge and experience in electronic and electrical controls.
• Hands on working knowledge in panel building and subsystem wiring.
• Ability to set up, install, operate and troubleshoot pneumatic and electronic instruments and sensing devices such as control valves, RTDs, load cells, level and pressure sensors.

The salary range for this role is $27.57 – $34.75 hourly. Pay is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location.
