Job summary

RigUp, Inc. is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Lead II to define the scope of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for upstream projects in the Midland basin.

You will oversee engineering contractors and maintain standard designs to ensure safety, availability, and reliability of instrument and control systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 5–15 years of experience in instrumentation and controls.
• Experience supervising related field work preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of design standards, specs, codes, and safety criteria.
• Able to review and update P&IDs, control narratives, and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with customers, vendors, engineers and other disciplines as required.
• Participate in HAZOP/LOPA and other reviews for quality and constructability.
• Assist design, review and approval of instrumentation deliverables (indexes, drawings, datasheets, wiring/loop diagrams, BOMs).
• Support Acceptance Testing by reviewing procedures, allocating resources, and attending tests.
• Develop and track commissioning execution schedule and adjust scope as needed.

Role: Instrumentation and Controls Lead II

Job Description:

Define scope of all pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, assign workloads, review and implement standards/procedures including man hour estimating, cost estimating, budgeting, and progress reporting for Instrumentation scope for all phases of the project. Supports development and execution of centralized engineering services for existing upstream production operating units and new upstream capital projects to maintain safety availability and reliability of the instrument and control systems while optimizing cost. This role will focus on supporting projects in the Midland basin, with primary responsibilities including oversight of engineering contractors and maintenance of standard designs. Work primarily involves low voltage applications.

Responsibilities:

• Liaise with customers, vendors, engineers, and other disciplines as required
• Participate in HAZOP/LOPA reviews and in other technical, constructability and quality reviews
• Assist in the Design, Review and Approval of Instrumentation related engineering deliverables, i.e. instrument indexes, installation details, location drawings, datasheets, wiring drawings, loop drawings, P&ID's, material requisitions, evaluation of alternatives and selection of instruments, calculations (control valve, flow elements, pressure safety valves), document control logs, bill of materials and instrument change approvals
• Support project Acceptance Testing (AT) including: reviewing procedures, assigning resources, periodically attending AT, and adjust commissioning scope to integrate AT successes and deficiencies
• Develop, track, and adjust commissioning execution schedule

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's/MS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering specialty, required
• 5-15 years of experience
• Previous experience in a closely related position and/or supervisory experience in related field
• Extensive knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
• Able to review, evaluate, and update cause and effect, P&IDs, logic and architecture diagrams and control narratives
• Able to read and interpret technical diagrams
• Experience in selection, application, and ISA data sheet specification of hardware including pressure/temperature/level instruments, control valves, shutdown valves, and fire/gas detection
• Proficient in data collection and analysis with common database and software data analysis tools such as SAP, Analytics for Excel and Tableau
• Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
• Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications
• Able to evaluate and comment on low voltage (480V and less) electrical design documents from engineering contractors
