Dominion Energy's North Anna Power Station is seeking an Electrical / I&C Design Engineer (or equivalent) to join a cross-functional project team. You will evaluate plant design modifications, review engineering packages, and oversee contracted work to ensure adherence to Dominion Energy and industry standards.
The role emphasizes nuclear-specific design experience, strong electrical/ICS theory, and ability to produce clear engineering documentation and specifications.
Pay: 74 per hour
Schedule: Typical 40 hours per week (4x10s or 5x8s) with option of one remote day per week. Up to 72 hours per week during refueling outages, day or night shift, outage schedule to fit needs of assigned work/project
Length of Assignment: Through 2031
Travel: Limited to project specific needs (Factory Acceptance Testing) on an as needed basis
1) Experience with nuclear power plant design, systems, and components
2) Strong background in Electrical, Computer, or I&C Engineering fields
3) Specification, technical, engineering writing ability
Candidates will be expected to have or gain familiarity with the nuclear power plant design, including the Electrical Distribution System and or the Instrumentation and Control Systems at the station.
Experience with Industrial Control Systems such as Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems and associated control system devices, computers, communications, and networks
Demonstrated hands-on experience with power generation Industrial Control Systems and skills in the use of advanced control techniques.
In-depth knowledge of industry advances in control system monitoring, testing and analysis of control equipment; and controls theory.
Knowledge and experience of power plant controls, steam turbine control systems, combustion turbine control systems, balance of plant control systems;
Knowledge and experience of electrical and electronics theory.
6+ years of directly related electrical design engineering experience in a power generating station, nuclear background strongly preferred
10+ years of industry experience
Possess a 4-year Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent extensive electrical engineering field experience.
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license can be used in lieu of a 4-year degree
1) Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices, procedures, and standards to solve complex problems and achieve project objectives. Experience with relay logic, power systems, electrical schematics, circuit design, load calculations and analyses.
2) Ability to interpret and apply codes, regulations, and specifications to design change development and implementation
3) Planning, organizational, and project management skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
Strongly prefer ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Excel, ETAP, Matlab, etc.)
