TotalEnergies Petrochemicals & Refining USA, Inc. is seeking an Instrument Technician to maintain plant instrumentation and control systems. The successful candidate will read engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics and trouble reports to perform duties and support plant reliability.

A minimum of five years instrument maintenance experience is required. Candidates should aim to obtain ISA CCST Level II within three years and NICET Industrial Instrumentation Level II certification.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years instrument maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and P&ID diagrams.
  • Aim to obtain ISA CCST Level II within 3 years.
  • NICET Industrial Instrumentation Level II certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform instrument and controls related work including calibration, repair, modification, and understanding functions of instrumentation and control sequences.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and assist in planning, installation, and startup of new control systems.
  • Assist project owner in planning, installation and startup of revised control systems.
  • Update and maintain site records and controls documentation and databases.

Job description

Dominio Maintenance / Inspection / Technology

The Instrument Technician is responsible for the maintenance of all plant instrumentation and control systems not maintained by outside contract.

The incumbent will have a working knowledge of controls systems and test equipment normally used for instrumentation trouble evaluation and repair. The position requires an ability to glean information from service manuals, blueprints, schematics, and trouble reports as necessary for the performance of assigned duties.

Aid in the preventive maintenance of instrumentation and controls systems as required for safety, dependability, accuracy and to suggest those changes or modifications that will improve overall plant operation.

  • Perform instrument and controls related work with the ability to calibrate, repair, modify, and understand the functions of instrumentation and/or controls sequences.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and participate in planning, installing, and starting up of new control systems.
  • Aid the project owner in planning, installation and startup of new and revised control systems.
  • Integrate resulting changes from plant revisions and capital projects into the existing site record systems including the creation, updating, and maintenance of required controls documentation and databases.
  • Inspect and evaluate instrumentation and control systems in accordance with design intent.
  • Aid in plant startups relative to control systems
  • Must be able to understand engineering drawings and process flow diagrams.
  • Possess those physical qualities required to perform assigned duties at any location of the plant.
  • Possess a good knowledge of plant operations and process.
  • Quickly grasp instructions and carry out an assignment in a proficient and businesslike manner.
  • Be punctual in keeping supervisor informed of actions.
  • Must understand and comply with safety rules and regulations.
  • Will apply his or her ability to learn new concepts pertinent to the instrumentation field.
  • Demonstrate initiative in his or her work performance.

This position requires a High School diploma or equivalency certificate, (G.E.D.) and a technical level of education and or experience that will permit assignments engaged in the application, design assistance, installation and maintenance of measurement and control instrumentation systems utilized within an industrial manufacturing facility.

Minimum 5 years instrument maintenance experience.

Achieve steady progress toward obtaining, obtain and then maintain a certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) Level II Certification as administered by the Instrument Society of America (ISA) or equivalent* within 3 years of entering the Instrument Technician position.

*Industrial Instrumentation Engineering Technology Level II Certification as administered by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET)
