Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is seeking an Instrument Mechanic to perform highly skilled field and shop work inspecting, troubleshooting, calibrating, servicing, maintaining, overhauling, repairing, and testing automatic controls and indicating and recording instruments and devices.

The role requires extensive experience with instrumentation, diagrams and process controls; salary ranges around $119,997–$124,319 with flat-rated steps and formal reciprocity notes.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time paid experience as a Steam Plant Assistant with the City of Los Angeles, one year as Steam Plant Assistant “A” in the Instrument Shop or Operations, or
• Two years at Building Operating Engineer level with relevant boiler or refrigeration experience totaling 3,000+ tons, or
• Two years as Electrician/Electrical Test Technician with City of Los Angeles, or
• Two years as Instrument/ HVAC/ Elevator mechanic with inspection, repair and testing of control systems, instruments, and controllers in related facilities
• Substitutions: four semesters of Automated Instrumentation and Controls coursework or a three-year electrical/instrumentation apprenticeship may count toward experience

Responsabilités

• Inspect, troubleshoot, adjust, calibrate, service, maintain, overhaul and repair automatic controls and indicating/recording instruments
• Analyze instrumentation malfunctions to determine repairs and interface controls with process control computers
