Job Summary

INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA – Location: Carson, CA – Job Type: Full‑Time – Grade: 34/35 (commensurate with experience) – Offer Range: $120,644 – $165,000 (commensurate with experience). The Sustainable Maintenance & Engineering team will support Operations, Maintenance and Capital teams, focusing on reliability, instrumentation and electrical systems.

Responsibilities
  • Provide tactical electrical engineering support to ensure safe and reliable operation of instrumentation and power systems.
  • Assist and lead instrumentation & electrical troubleshooting with I/E technicians.
  • Actively participate in hazard and risk assessments, resolving process safety management (PSM) issues.
  • Review and provide comments on engineering design packages for approval and construction.
  • Ensure technical integrity of projects, complying with scope and specifications.
  • Direct maintenance and improvement efforts for power distribution (< 69 KV), switching, MCCs, VFDs, motors, UPS, and grounding systems.
  • Ensure PM compliance of electrical distribution equipment, reviewing PM data and maintaining KPIs from the data.
  • Maintain equipment care plans for AC/DC motors, junction boxes, cabinets, cables and instrumented input/output devices.
  • Design and specify instrumentation and field analyzers, both analog and digital, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical.
  • Coordinate high‑voltage work and monitor transformer and substation performance.
  • Interface with operations, I/E technicians and external partners on non‑routine activities.
  • Manage small in‑house I/E projects, performing MOCs, validating programming changes and ensuring documentation accuracy.
  • Lead and assure site Critical Equipment Lists are current and documented per PSM and ISA requirements.
  • Create and update documentation and CAD drawings including single‑line and schematic diagrams.
  • Perform RCFA following design and troubleshooting guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in an Instrumentation or I/E Engineering position at a petrochemical or manufacturing plant.
  • Formal training in Safety Instrumented Systems (IEC 61511, ANSI/ISA 84.00.01–2004, API RP 14C, NFPA85).
  • Certification a plus; formal training in NFPA70E, Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) a plus.
  • Strong I/E engineering skills with reliability methodology and plant‑level experience.
  • Knowledge of P&IDs, PFDs, instrumentation loop drawings, PLC logic and programmable safety systems.
  • Experience with capital projects, project cost control and multi‑disciplinary collaboration.
  • Self‑starter with strong organization and prioritization abilities; effective communicator at all levels.
  • Knowledge of polypropylene manufacturing and process control preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, cost/benefit analysis and budgeting experience.
  • Ability to lead, influence others and foster teamwork.
