Job summary

NES Fircroft seeks an Automation Technician to support Automation-I&E activities for Southeast New Mexico oil and gas operations on a 5/2 schedule. The role requires installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLCs, transmitters, HMIs, and related instrumentation.

You will work as part of a team, promote a strong safety culture, and operate SCADA systems to monitor processes. Availability for night/weekend/holiday call‑outs is expected.

Qualifications

• Install, troubleshoot and repair PLCs including Allen-Bradley
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits and components
• Knowledge of field communications equipment such as Freewave, XetaWave, RedLion, ABB, Cambium
• Must be able to obtain fall protection certification and work at heights

Responsibilities

• Maintain electrical, instrumentation, and controls in oil and gas facilities with emphasis on gas compression
• Install/maintain Automation-I&E equipment (PLC, transmitters, HMI)
• Use SCADA to monitor operation and perform Lock-Out/Tag-Out
• Work rotating call-out schedule including nights, weekends, holidays

Job Title:

Automation Technician

Job Summary:

This position will provide Automation-I&E support to Southeast New Mexico Oil and Gas Operations working a 5/2 schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

• Experience in maintaining electrical systems, Instrumentation, and Controls in oil and gas processing facilities with a strong emphasis in gas compression facilities.
• Work as a team to maintain and install Automation-I&E equipment such as PLC components, Wired and wireless transmitters, Communications equipment, HMI’s, etc.
• Safety conscious, Team oriented, Self-starter, works well with minimal supervision
• Responsible for engaging in and promoting a strong safety culture.
• Use SCADA systems to monitor operation.
• Perform Lock-Out/Tag-Out process on required equipment.
• Other operations duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

• Ability to install, troubleshoot and repair PLC’s, Allan Bradley, Fisher ROC’S, Emerson Rosemount Devices, etc.
• Ability to troubleshoot Electrical Circuits and components.
• Knowledge of Communication equipment such as Freewave, XetaWave, RedLion, ABB, Cambium, and Fiberoptic Systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Computer skills such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced facility personnel.
• Understand O&G production equipment and operations.
• Must be able to get certified to work at heights using appropriate fall protection.
• Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures.
• Once adequately trained, Contractors will be expected to work a call out rotation. (Nights, Weekends, Holidays)
• Required to work late as needed
• Willingness to learn and take directions from experienced Automation-I/E personnel.
