Job summary

Louisiana State University of Alexandria seeks an adjunct instructor to teach AFST 3030: Black Musical Traditions in an online format as part of the Bachelor of General Studies in Africana Studies program.

Job Description

Louisiana State University of Alexandria is seeking an adjunct in Africana Studies to teach in an online format the following 3 credit course as part of our Bachelor of General Studies in Africana Studies program: AFST 3030 - Black Musical Traditions. This course acts as a survey of Black African musical traditions, examining West & Central African musical ideas and tracing the spread and manifestation of these ideas in the variety of music of the Atlantic World.

Applicants must have a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Music or Africana Studies or a related field with teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Being available for student conferences
• Presenting instruction based on online course description
• Submitting attendance reporting
• Evaluating student performance on assignments and exams in a timely manner

• Building positive rapport with students and faculty

Physical Requirements

• Ability to instruct online in Moodle (an online course in how to teach online and how to use Moodle may be required)
• Availability for student conferences
• Ability to grade assignments and examinations
