Job summary

Middlebury College's Summer German School seeks a temporary Instructor of German for the 2022 session on the Vermont campus. The role offers immersive language instruction, cultural engagement, and daily classroom activities conducted entirely in German.

In addition to salary, lodging and a complete meal plan are provided; insurance is available. ABD candidates may be considered under certain conditions, with emphasis on dynamic, committed teaching and student learning.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in German Studies or German Applied Linguistics/Second Language Acquisition in hand by June 2022
• Native or near-native proficiency in German language
• Formal training in second language pedagogy and teaching
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching German language and culture at all levels
• At least two years of experience teaching at a higher education institution in the United States

Middlebury College's Summer German School is pleased to announce avacancy for an appointment as a temporary Instructor of German. Theposition is available during the summer 2022 session (late June -mid August 2021), and we anticipate our program to operate on ourVermont campus in Middlebury (however we will follow thescientists' guidance on running our program safely). Designated asan AATG German Center of Excellence in 2013, Middlebury's GermanSchool and its unique 7-week program combine a cultural immersionenvironment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is anopportunity to join a community of learners by actively engaging inteaching, dining, residing and recreational activities withstudents while reading, writing and speaking exclusively inGerman
