The role and mission of LSCO places major emphasis upon the teaching component. Therefore, the instructional faculty position at LSCO has an emphasis on teaching, scholarship, and service. The apportionment of responsibilities may be modified for a specific position and for a specific semester due to classes not making or other variables which affect teaching assignments. Faculty will be expected to teach assigned classes according to approved course syllabi or instructional dean.
The Instructor for Nursing’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in the RN or VN Nursing Programs at the Lamar State College Orange (along with other related courses and topics). This individual helps coordinate and attend advisory committee meetings; attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills; and assists in the development of curriculum, as needed. Each faculty member will schedule office hours which will include the normal working hours (8:00 - 5:00), not excluding evening hours when classes are in session. During these office hours, the faculty member will be available to counsel students and will be available for departmental, divisional, and institutional obligations.
