Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing required.
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience and pediatric experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and assumes primary responsibility for and exercises oversight of the curriculum in conjunction with the Department’s policies, ensuring both the rigor of programs and the quality of instruction.
  • Considers individual differences of students to design and support a range of learning activities.
  • Participates in identifying students with academic or other needs and responds accordingly.
  • Uses technology in a manner appropriate to courses and programs and communicates expectations to students.
  • Maintains attendance records and communicates progress feedback to students.
  • Create and maintain accurate syllabi aligned with requirements.
  • Participates in selection of materials to support curriculum.
  • Conducts classes punctually and adheres to schedules.
  • Employs assessment techniques to measure student performance toward course goals.
  • Be a facilitator of learning in a virtual environment.

Compensation: $54,033.00

Full-time members of the faculty are professional educators whohave the primary responsibility of fulfilling the Colleges’mission, vision, values, strategic plan, President’s & Board of Trustees’ charges and educational philosophy, and primary goal ofproviding a quality education for all students attending theCollege. Faculty members are classified according to the ranks ofInstructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, andProfessor. Faculty members are subject to Board policies, includingacademic freedom, and are also bound by its accompanyingresponsibilities. The relationship of the faculty member to thestudent is one of leader, teacher, adviser, mentor, and facilitatorof learning. This position is intended to be in Pediatricinstruction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Instruction & Student Learning
  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and assumes primaryresponsibility for and exercises oversight of the curriculum inconjunction with the Department’s policies, ensuring both the rigorof programs and the quality of instruction
  • Considers individual differences of students in order to designand support a range of appropriate learning activities
  • Participates in the identification of students with academic orother needs and responds by utilizing an appropriate resource
  • Uses technology in a manner appropriate to the nature andobjectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly tostudents the expectations concerning the use of suchtechnology
  • Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance with theFaculty Handbook and departmental policies
  • Maintains attendance records, determines, and submits gradestimely, and in accordance with established policies and proceduresof the College, and communicates progress feedback as well as otherrelevant information to students throughout the semester
  • Create and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporatedepartmental, college, cross-college, and instructorrequirements
  • Participates in the selection of appropriate materials tosupport course curriculum in accordance with the College’sguidelines
  • Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with theprescribed meeting schedule
  • Employs and assists in the design and development ofappropriate assessment techniques to measure students’ performancein achieving course goals and objectives

Student Engagement & Advisement
  • Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages activeand collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge,student and faculty interaction, and support for learners
  • Maintains posted office hours in accordance with departmentaland policies of the College
  • Uses technology to assist in communication with students
  • Encourages a sense of community among students for learningboth inside and outside the classroom
  • Refers students to appropriate student and academic supportservices available at the College or in the community
Continuous Improvement
  • Promotes continual improvement as part of the cycle of teachingand learning by: assisting, as appropriate, in the maintenance ofinstructional materials and laboratory facilities; contributing, asappropriate, to the development, selection, and improvement ofinstructional materials, laboratories, and other instructionalfacilities; providing guidance in the development, maintenance, anddesign of course description, course outlines, and syllabi;recommending modifications to the curriculum and participating inthe design of new curricula
  • Completes all mandatory performance evaluation measures withinspecified time limits and participates in all required training bythe College
  • Shares best practices with colleagues in formal or informalsettings
  • Participates in instructional, departmental, or institutionalresearch to improve educational effectiveness
  • Evaluates teaching and assessment practices to continueimproving them
  • Provides feedback, as appropriate, regarding the generaloperations of the department, division and the College
  • Participates, as appropriate, in the interviewing, selection,and orientation processes of department faculty and staff
  • Provides advice and/or assistance to faculty within thedepartment, division, or College
  • Attends faculty meetings as called by the President, SeniorVice President of Academic Affairs, Dean or Department Chairperson;and participates, as appropriate, on departmental and divisionalcommittees.
Professional Development
  • Maintains a personal portfolio for tenure and promotion reviewand other career-related needs. Employs student, administrative andself-appraisals to establish goals and objectives for professionaldevelopment and participates in professional developmentactivities
  • Contributes, as appropriate, to the planning, evaluation,and/or presentation of college professional developmentprograms
  • Maintains required professional credentials, licensing, andcontinuing education hours as disciplinary standards dictate

  • Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect andinclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of thecommunity
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides consultative assistance to and advises, asappropriate, student organizations and groups
  • Contributes to the community and/or the profession as arepresentative of the College
  • Participates in local, statewide, or national levels in theadvancement of the discipline and/or the two-year collegemission
  • Works a varying schedule, including nights & weekends tomeet departmental needs

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Masters of Science in Nursing
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience and pediatricexperience

*An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework,and experience may qualify a candidate.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable abilityto gain access to work site(s)
  • Valid Ohio Registered Nursing license in good standing

  • Optional Summer Semester (Full load) range between $17,481.26 -$19,579.02
