Job summary

Sampson Community College is seeking qualified nursing professionals to serve as Adjunct Nurse Aide Instructors in its Continuing Education division. This is a part-time, adjunct position with evening and weekend instructional assignments.

Qualifications

• Must hold an unencumbered RN license and be eligible to practice in North Carolina.
• Minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of RN experience in the United States.
• One of: completed course in teaching adults; experience teaching adults; or experience supervising nurse aides.
• Ability to meet DHSR faculty approval requirements.
• Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain it before instruction.
• Ability to teach and evaluate students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Able to work evening and weekend instructional assignments.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction per the DHSR-approved Nurse Aide curriculum.
• Assess and evaluate student performance; mentor and guide learners.
• Coordinate scheduling for evening and weekend instructional assignments.

Minimum RequirementsApplicants must meet current North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation requirements for Nurse Aide I instructors, including:

• Current, unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse (RN) with eligibility to practice in North Carolina.
• A minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse in the United States.
• Meet at least one of the following: completion of a course in teaching adults; experience teaching adults; or experience supervising nurse aides.
• Ability to meet all current DHSR faculty approval requirements.
• Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain certification prior to instructional assignment.
• Ability to effectively teach and evaluate students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical environments.
• Proficiency in the use of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Availability to work evening and weekend instructional assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience teaching Nurse Aide students or other adult learners.
• Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or a related healthcare setting.
• Previous experience in a community college or Continuing Education setting.
• Knowledge of Moodle or a similar learning management system used for web-based education.
• Familiarity with North Carolina DHSR Nurse Aide program requirements and the state-approved curriculum.
• Experience supervising or mentoring nurse aides or other entry-level healthcare professionals.
