Responsibilities

  • Teach, coordinate, or support hands-on undergraduate mechanical engineering laboratories, including structures and dynamics, materials, thermal-fluids, instrumentation, design, or related labs.
  • Teach undergraduate mechanical engineering or engineering science courses as assigned.
  • Develop, revise, and assess laboratory manuals, experiments, safety procedures, demonstrations, project-based activities, and course materials.
  • Collaborate with faculty laboratory directors, course coordinators, staff, and machine shop supervisor to ensure lab safety, equipment readiness, and maintenance.
  • Mentor undergraduate students in laboratory practice, engineering problem solving, and professional conduct.
  • Contribute to ABET-related assessment, curriculum coordination, and department service.

Not eligible for tenure.Job Description:Position DescriptionThe Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), Oxford, Mississippi, invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Mechanical Engineering. This teaching-focused, non-tenure-track faculty appointment will strengthen hands-on undergraduate instruction in mechanical engineering laboratories and related engineering courses.The successful candidate will teach and support hands-on undergraduate laboratories, including structures and dynamics, materials, thermal-fluids, instrumentation, design, or related mechanical engineering laboratory experiences.
