The University of North Florida School of Engineering is seeking a 12-month, non-tenure earning Instructor of Mechanical Engineering. The position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses with a 4/4/1 teaching load and collaborating with local industry.

The incumbent will provide service to the School, College, and University and report to the Engineering Director. Initial appointment is anticipated to begin August 2, 2027.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• PhD required to teach graduate courses.
• Preference given to candidates with teaching experience or practice in industry or government labs.

General Description / Primary Purpose

The School of Engineering is seeking a 12-month, non-tenure earning, Instructor of Mechanical Engineering. Position responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses with a 4/4/1 teaching load, collaboration with local industry and service to the School, College of Computing, Engineering and Construction and the University of North Florida.

This position will report to Dr. Alan Harris, the School of Engineering Director.

Required Qualifications

The candidate must hold a Master’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field. A PhD is required to teach graduate courses.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills

Candidates from all areas of mechanical engineering are encouraged to apply, with preference given to those who demonstrate a record of teaching experience or practice in their profession in a non-academic setting such as industry or government laboratories.
