Job description

Overview

The University at Buffalo Gifted Math Program is looking for a part-time experienced mathematics teacher for an afterschool math class at a grade level in the range 7–12. Classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00–6:30 p.m. or from 6:30–9:00 p.m. They run from September through April. The Gifted Math Program serves 7th–12th graders throughout Western New York who enter this program through rigorous testing.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing and teaching for 5 hours of class time per week.
  • Differentiating instruction for a diverse group of students.
  • Communicating with students, parents, and GMP staff by responding in a timely way to emails and phone calls.
  • Attending staff meetings.
  • Posting grades and assignments on UB Learns in a timely way or supervising an instructional assistant in doing this.
  • Helping with student individual needs through feedback, calls home, and conferencing.
  • Helping students who are absent due to illness or mandatory school activities obtain missing work.
