Job summary

Cuyahoga Community College is seeking a Part-Time Faculty instructor at the KeyBank Public Safety Training Center to deliver Firefighter I & II, advanced fire and EMS programs, and American Heart Association classes in accordance with Ohio and AHA curricula.

The instructor will coordinate and evaluate student performance, maintain records, deliver course materials, and collaborate with staff to ensure programs meet industry needs and regulatory standards. Residency within Ohio is required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with at least one of the required OH certifications.
  • OH Firefighter II certification and instructor certification are required.
  • OH Fire Safety Inspector and Hazard Recognition Officer certifications preferred.
  • EMS provider certification and American Heart Association instructor certification preferred.

SUMMARY

Provides instruction of courses in Firefighter I& II certification, advanced fire and EMS programs including American HeartAssociation classes, according to state of Ohio and AHA approved curriculum.The instructor must be able to coordinate and evaluate student performancethrough various evaluation processes.

  • Maintains up-to-date academic and attendance records in compliance with school and regulatory organization policies and guidelines
  • Delivers instruction materials professionally and consistently within program curricular guidelines
  • Assists in updating, revising, and implementing curricular objectives and content
  • Fosters effective communication between students, staff, and administration
  • Collects and analyzes program and participant data to ensure programs meet industry needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • High School diploma or equivalent with at least one (1) of the following required qualifications:
    • Valid State of Ohio Firefighter II certification
    • Valid State of Ohio Fire & Emergency Services Instructor certification
    • Valid State of Ohio Fire Safety Inspector certification
    • Valid State of Ohio Hazard Recognition Officer certification
    • Valid State of Ohio EMS provider certification
    • Valid America Heart Associate Instructor certification
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet the College’s insurability requirements
  • KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS and ABILITIES

    • Ability to determineneeds of students and identify solutions
    • Possess knowledge of firefighting and/or EMS operations and training equipment
    • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in theperformance of duties

    • The work is partially performed in a standard, professional environment;
    • The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated;
    • Work is partially performed in the fire training facility; with exposure to extreme heat, noise that may cause an employee to shout in order to be heard, hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, flames, working in high places or exposure to chemicals.
    • Work requires ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
    • Work is partially performed in an environment with conditions that affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, and gases
    • Work may also require walking and standing inconjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away fromthe worksite

    Special Note:If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure .

    This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $37.00/hour.
