Lamar State College-Orange is seeking an instructional faculty member emphasizing teaching, scholarship, and service in the area of Welding. As a faculty member, you will prepare and instruct classes, evaluate student performance, and actively participate in curriculum development.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher with relevant industry experience. The role includes scheduled office hours for student support and participation in college-wide initiatives.

The role and mission of LSCO place major emphasis on the teaching component. The instructional faculty position emphasizes teaching, scholarship, and service. The apportionment of responsibilities may be modified for a specific position and semester due to classes not being offered or other variables that affect teaching assignments. Faculty will be expected to teach assigned classes according to approved course syllabi or the instructional dean.
Each faculty member will schedule office hours, including the regular working hours (Mon-Fri 8:00 – 5:00), not excluding evening hours when classes are in session. During these office hours, the faculty member will counsel students and be available for departmental, divisional, and institutional obligations. Additional events, committee meetings, professional development sessions, graduations, convocations, and other activities may require attendance outside posted office hours.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in teaching discipline or Bachelor’s degree or higher in any discipline, with 12 undergraduate semester hours in the teaching discipline or related field; or an Associate’s degree in the discipline, plus 3 years of relevant full‑time work experience.
Qualifying Disciplines: Welding, Welding Technology, Metals Science (Metallurgy or Materials Science), Pipe Fitting; Industrial Education, Industrial Technology, Industrial Arts, Agriculture or hold a college certificate or an industry‑recognized credential/certificate in the teaching discipline or related field, plus 3 years of relevant full‑time work experience.
Industry Experience: Welding, Welding Fabrication, Pipe Fitting, or Pipe Welding.
College or other teaching or experience is preferred.
For technical programs, pertinent job experience outlined in the minimum faculty credential standards is required.
Must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the unique needs of students with diverse backgrounds. Must comply with established college standards and policies.
