Job summary

Guilford Technical Community College ( GTCC ) is seeking an Instructor, Dental Sciences to teach Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene, and to lead curriculum planning and program evaluation.

The position requires a CODA-accredited dental hygiene degree, NC dental hygiene licensure, and a CDA credential. A BLS CPR certification is also required or must be obtained before hire date. GTCC emphasizes an inclusive, collaborative teaching environment with strong student support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required as part of the qualifications.
• CODA-accredited dental hygiene program graduate is required.
• Current unrestricted dental hygiene license in NC is required.
• CDA credential is required.
• BLS CPR certification (AHA) or ability to obtain prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, evaluate, and revise the dental programs curriculum.
• Coordinate instructional teams and teach Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene courses.
• Support student success and maintain high instructional quality.

Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College areresponsible for supporting student success by creating an optimumlearning environment, responding to student needs, managingeffective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses,modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism,developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty andstaff, supporting college administrative requirements, andmaintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will beresponsible for quality instruction and for effective participationand interest in the total affairs of the college.

The full-time Dental Programs faculty member participates in theplanning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the programcurriculum. This individual may also be assigned the responsibilityof coordinating the efforts of a designated instructional team. Theposition develops and teaches courses in Dental Assisting andDental Hygiene.

Education Required

• Bachelor’s degree from an institutionally accreditedcollege/university
• Graduate of a dental hygiene program accredited by theCommission on Dental Accreditation
• Current unrestricted license to practice as a dental hygienistin North Carolina

Experience Required

• Three years of recent clinical experience in dental hygieneand/or dental assisting
• Teaching and/or industry training experience in dental topicsin any of the following formats: teaching courses, trainingessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/orother continuing education seminars

Experience Preferred

• Greater than three years or the equivalent of full-timeclinical experience as a dental hygienist and/or dentalassistant
• Experience with Dental materials
• Post-secondary teaching experience
• Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
• Experience with distance learning and/or alternateinstructional delivery systems
