Motlow College in Nashville, TN seeks an Instructor in Computer Information Technology for a 9/10 month term to deliver quality instruction across day, evening, hybrid and online formats.

The successful candidate will guide students through programming languages such as C#, C++, HTML5/CSS, Java, JavaScript, ASP.Net, SQL or Python, and will participate in syllabus development, assessments and advising while upholding college policies.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Master's with 18 graduate hours in CS or related field.
  • Experience with at least two of the following software languages: C#, C++, HTML5/CSS, Java, JavaScript, ASP.Net, SQL, or Python
  • Experience with at least one of the following software programs: Access, Oracle, Power BI, Visual Studio, or SQL Server.
  • Preferred: College-level teaching experience.
  • Experience with three or more of the following software languages: C#, C++, HTML5/CSS, Java, JavaScript, ASP.Net, SQL or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Teach computer science courses via on-ground day and evening, hybrid, virtual or web-enhanced delivery modes as assigned.
  • Work with course leads and/or program coordinators/directors to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences.
  • Utilize the College’s learning management system to provide course materials to students.
  • Submit updated department syllabi prior to the first day of class.
  • Regularly check College email and departmental mailbox.
  • Respond to emails/messages within 24 hours except on the weekend.
  • Complete all required reports such as student engagement, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions; administer and return surveys and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines.
  • Engage in departmental institutional effectiveness activities.
  • Set and honor scheduled office hours for student conferences.
  • Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the registrar.
  • Work with students as academic advisor as assigned.
  • Comply with all College and TBR policies and guidelines.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction in computer information technology, including a variety of computer programming languages.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with at least two of the following software languages: C#, C++, HTML5/CSS, Java, JavaScript, ASP.Net, SQL, or Python

Experience with at least one of the following software programs: Access, Oracle, Power BI, Visual Studio, or SQL Server.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
College level teaching experience

Experience with three or more of the following software languages: C#, C++, HTML5/CSS, Java, JavaScript, ASP.Net, SQL or Python

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission and needs of the student population.
