Gaston College is seeking a full-time Regular Faculty member in the Arts and Sciences department to teach communications. The role requires updating instructional knowledge, serving on committees, and participating in college-wide activities. Expect engagement with students both in-class and online using Blackboard.

The candidate should hold a Master’s degree in communications (or related field with 18 graduate hours in communications); a Ph.D. is preferred.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree from a nationally accredited institution in communications (or closely related field with 18 graduate hours in communications) from an accredited institution required.
• Ph.D. in communications from an accredited institution preferred.
• Broad training in all areas of communication preferred.
• Must meet minimum SACSCOC criteria and the minimum criteria of other pertinent accrediting, licensing, and credentialing agencies in the area of teaching assignment.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior college teaching experience required.
• Community college teaching experience preferred.
• Online teaching experience using Blackboard learning management system preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 10 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, stooping, and bending required.
• Work environment can be stressful at times in dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines.
