Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improve the health and clinical care of patients. The Department of Family & Community Medicine has played a leading role in fellow, resident, and medical student education since 1974 and continues to focus on improving the health of members of our Cincinnati community and beyond, with a special focus on medically underserved patients. With faculty expertise scholarship and primary care research, palliative care, geriatrics, cancer survivorship, global health and integrative medicine, the department is advancing the college's commitment to cultivating learning environments, fostering research and scholarship, and providing innovative patient care.



The Department of Family & Community Medicine is seeking one (1) Fellow to join the Oncology Primary Care and Survivorship Fellowship program. This Fellowship Program is a one-year post-residency family medicine fellowship designed for physicians interested in caring for cancer survivors while strengthening clinical scholarly skills in cancer survivorship.



The Oncology Primary Care and Survivorship Fellowship is a non-ACGME-accredited fellowship in which the Fellow is appointed as an entry-level faculty member in the UC Department of Family & Community Medicine.



Fellows will deepen their competencies in the following areas: Cancer Survivorship, Cancer Surveillance, Long-term and Late Effects of Cancer and Cancer Treatment, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Psychosocial Care, Childhood and AYA Cancer Survivors, Older Adult Cancer Survivors, Caregivers of Cancer Survivors, and Communication and Coordination of Care.


Essential Functions

  • Provide primary care to adults with active cancer, a history of cancer or a cancer hereditary syndrome in the Oncology Primary Care Clinic at the University of Cincinnati Cancer.

  • Precept UC Health West Chester Family Medicine Residents one half day per week, allowing them an opportunity to teach residents about the care of cancer survivors.

  • Present a small research project or QI project and present at a national meeting such as ASCO Quality Care Symposium, AAFP, or Cancer Center Survivorship Research Forum. One half day per week will be protected for research based on fellow's interest.

  • Clinical Education

    • Rotate with interdisciplinary team members including but not limited to Cardio-oncology, Onco-nephrology, Onco-psychiatry, Pediatric Oncology, Adult oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Integrative Medicine, Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Clinical Pharmacology, and Mental Health counseling on two half days per week.

    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the clinical sites.

    • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings monthly at the clinic site.




Minimum Requirements

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO).

  • Licensure by the State of Ohio Medical Board.

  • Completion of a U.S. ACGME-accredited Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency in good standing.
