MARTA is seeking a developmental trainer to conduct rail training for mechanical personnel, focusing on motors, brake systems, couplers, door controls, and related equipment. The role involves classromm and on-the-job instruction under supervision, with monitoring and reporting on trainee progress and performance.
The position supports planning and delivery of annual training events and requires ensuring records and schedules are up to date.
High school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in transit car maintenance to include work in one of the following areas: mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems, HVAC, brakes, couplers, propulsion/motors, or door controls. Basic understanding of adult instruction and personal computers desired. An Associate's degree or completion of a Military Technical “A” School in a directly related field may be substituted for two years of the required experience. Proficiency in primary departmental/railcar software platforms is desirable. Experience using basic desktop software for presentations, writing and communications is highly desirable.
The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.
In a developmental capacity and under immediate supervision, conducts rail training programs for all mechanical personnel in the car maintenance crafts to include motors, brake systems, couplers, door control, etc. Monitors and evaluates the performance of students/employees in training. Prepares reports and performs other duties as assigned.
Supervises the activities of trainees in bus maintenance, rail maintenance, bus transportation, rail transportation, track, automatic train control and related areas during apprenticeship certifications. Activities include maintaining automated time and attendance, on-the-job training, enforcing policies and procedures, and progress updates to management.

Report health and safety concerns related to performing the duties of your job to supervisors and report any on-going/unresolved health and safety concerns to the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) co-chair, JHSC representative or safety representative.
